SKATE GLIDE FLOAT CARVE
A four-part series using oil on panel painted in 2020 during quarantine in Brooklyn, NY. Inspired by vintage photographs of surf-style skateboarders, I wanted to depict their moments of action and freedom - something that was a welcome escape from the drab and confining despair that has been a reality for too many this past year. Color field backgrounds inspired by the light of summer allow my subjects to move from a simple representation to something that is both iconic and weightless- they give me a feeling of warmth and physicality.
